Holmes Marple Poe Investigations is New York’s newest agency, and its best, breaking cases no one else can touch。 The three detectives keep their identities secret, and NYPD’s Det。 Helene Grey is on a mission to unmask them—no matter who gets killed along the way。

In New York City, three intriguing, smart, and stylish private investigators open Holmes, Marple & Poe Investigations。  Who are these detectives with famous names and mysterious, untraceable pasts ?

Brendan Holmes – A keen, science-minded sleuth with an even keener sense of smell。

Margaret Marple – A charming snoop who works best undercover。

Auguste Poe – A weapons expert with a weakness for muscle cars and beautiful women。

The agency’s daring methodology and headline-making solves attract the attention of NYPD Detective Helene Grey。 Her solo investigation into her three unknowable competitors rivals the best mysteries of Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, Agatha Christie, and Edgar Allan Poe。

This book had me from the first word to the last。 I loved the characters and getting to know each one and loved how there was more than one mystery to solve。 The nods to the classic characters were nostalgic and the stories make this an instant classic!!

I’ve heard of James Patterson but I’m not very familiar with his work so I was excited to get a copy of Holmes, Marple and Poe。However, I was quite disappointed from the start。 Some of the writing felt clichéd, for example the description of Poe “the kind of thin moustache that can look either silly or sexy, depending on the owner。 On him, Gretchen thought it worked – kind of brooding and rakish at the same time”。 I also found it jarring that when talking about the murder of Mary McShane in 195 I’ve heard of James Patterson but I’m not very familiar with his work so I was excited to get a copy of Holmes, Marple and Poe。However, I was quite disappointed from the start。 Some of the writing felt clichéd, for example the description of Poe “the kind of thin moustache that can look either silly or sexy, depending on the owner。 On him, Gretchen thought it worked – kind of brooding and rakish at the same time”。 I also found it jarring that when talking about the murder of Mary McShane in 1954, the headline read “Young Girl Slain Before Dawn”, but the girl in question was 19, which by 2023 standards is young, in 1954 not so much, in the 1950s, women married at age 20 and men at 23。I felt there were too many mysteries to tie them all up sufficiently。 I still don’t understand who stole the art and why。 Or (view spoiler)[why did the Siglik brothers kill people, because their father did? I felt that the only clue that pointed to them was that Marple got a bad feeling when she passed the house。And regarding bad feelings over logic, the mystery of Mary McShane was solved by Virginia’s seeing a shadow and smelling bread。 (hide spoiler)]It was fast paced, which was good, and the short chapters kept me reading and guessing。 If this is the start of a series I would read on as I did like the characters, Holmes with his heroin addiction and Poe’s alcoholism were easter eggs to their namesakes。 With thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC。 。。。more

The title of this book had me hooked。 It intrigued me to see how they weaved in stories from the original Holmes, Maple, and Poe。 In this book we meet three PIs。 With names like theirs, they are the perfect crime solving trio。 People are left wondering if those are their real names。 There are several similarities between them and their namesakes; they are not only very smart, great at deduction, and “sniffing out” crimes but also great at solving crimes。 This book kept me in suspense。 It left me The title of this book had me hooked。 It intrigued me to see how they weaved in stories from the original Holmes, Maple, and Poe。 In this book we meet three PIs。 With names like theirs, they are the perfect crime solving trio。 People are left wondering if those are their real names。 There are several similarities between them and their namesakes; they are not only very smart, great at deduction, and “sniffing out” crimes but also great at solving crimes。 This book kept me in suspense。 It left me curious in some parts and cracked me up in others。 It is a satisfying read, but it does leave you wanting more books with these three protagonists。 。。。more

Holmes, Marple, and Poe is a new private investigator firm in NYC solving cases。 This book was such a fun read。 。 I like how the authors catch the essence of the three sleuths, I loved that the three investigators have similar personalities and traits as their namesakes。 Holmes and his acute olfactory senses, Maple’s enjoyment of the old tipple of Sherry。 Pope’s weakness for fast flashy cars。 There’s rarely a dull moment。 The pace is fast with the short, snappy chapters, that are fulled of twist Holmes, Marple, and Poe is a new private investigator firm in NYC solving cases。 This book was such a fun read。 。 I like how the authors catch the essence of the three sleuths, I loved that the three investigators have similar personalities and traits as their namesakes。 Holmes and his acute olfactory senses, Maple’s enjoyment of the old tipple of Sherry。 Pope’s weakness for fast flashy cars。 There’s rarely a dull moment。 The pace is fast with the short, snappy chapters, that are fulled of twists and turns as they encounter some nefarious and some deeply unpleasant characters along the way 。 The pace felt like a modern police show, complete with several ongoing mysteries and a light touch of personal lives to keep it moving。 The mysteries are all interesting, but this isn't a solve as you go book, so the results reveal themselves in a Conan Doyle style。 This book was a wild ride and will be a great new series! I just reviewed Holmes, Margaret and Poe by James Patterson。 #HolmesMarpleandPoe #NetGalleyI had great expectations of this book (pardon the pun!) as it had three great names in the title so I thought it would be one heck of a read…。。 unfortunately it wasn’t。It was very slow and you never got a “bond” with the characters。

My thanks to Net Galley and Little Brown for allowing me to review this arc。Always been a fan of James Patterson, Edgar Allen Poe, Agatha Christie and Holmes。 So when I saw a book with 3 members of a PI firm with these names, I was intrigued to read, and was not disappointed。 Rach member of the team had their own talents。 I thought there were too many mysteries at first and this was all over the place, but things tied together。 I hope there is more to come in this series。 #NetGalley

I haven't read a James Patterson in years, and this one, which boasted characters called Marple, Holmes and Poe, seemed intriguing。 I'm not sure if it will be a series but it was enjoyable。 I liked the small nods to the original stories, like the dog named Baskerville and the receptionist named Virginia。 There were a lot of different threads/cases at play, some of them so minor that I forgot about them (the Lucy Ferry storyline most obviously - because she was in three chapters out of 100), and I haven't read a James Patterson in years, and this one, which boasted characters called Marple, Holmes and Poe, seemed intriguing。 I'm not sure if it will be a series but it was enjoyable。 I liked the small nods to the original stories, like the dog named Baskerville and the receptionist named Virginia。 There were a lot of different threads/cases at play, some of them so minor that I forgot about them (the Lucy Ferry storyline most obviously - because she was in three chapters out of 100), and I wish there had been one overarching case that felt like higher stakes。 It was a little like short stories broken up into alternating chapters。Of the three main characters, I liked Marple, although I had no idea how old she was for most of the book and admittedly imagined her as old like her namesake。 I also had trouble keeping Holmes and Poe straight because they are both only developed so far as their love of cars or weapons。 Also one is an alcoholic and the other is a drug addict。 Also, as another reviewer mentions, it's weird that one character is named for the author himself, but the other two for fictional detectives。 It should have been either "Poe Doyle and Christie " or "Holmes, Marple and Dupin。" Lastly, I wish the cases had been more of a twist - it was clear about how some were going to resolve (notably the Zozi Turner case, which I called as soon as we met her mother)。A while back, I read some Patterson books that really had some clever solutions but his later books seem to not care about shocking twists or revelations。 I did like Brian Sitts' narration style, and thought he described things well but succinctly。 It was a fun read but nothing serious, which was fine for what I needed this past weekend。 Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to review! 。。。more

Let me just start by saying the name of this novel drew me straight in。 If you are a crime/mystery fan you are bound to have read about Sherlock Holmes, Miss Jane Marple and Edgar Allen Poe。 So that leaves me at the question - how in the world do you get these three together in one book by James Patterson and Brian Sitts。 Holmes, Marple and Poe , a new detective agency in NYC made up of。。。。。。。。wait for it。。。。。Brendan Holmes, Margaret Marple and Auguste Poe。 While their names are different than t Let me just start by saying the name of this novel drew me straight in。 If you are a crime/mystery fan you are bound to have read about Sherlock Holmes, Miss Jane Marple and Edgar Allen Poe。 So that leaves me at the question - how in the world do you get these three together in one book by James Patterson and Brian Sitts。 Holmes, Marple and Poe , a new detective agency in NYC made up of。。。。。。。。wait for it。。。。。Brendan Holmes, Margaret Marple and Auguste Poe。 While their names are different than the famous detectives that we know and love, they each have the essence of the originals, making this a seriously fun read that never has a dull moment。 There is so much going on that you will be spinning in circles, turning pages and when you reach the end you will surely need the next installment from this trio。。。 because there has to be one! Thank you to NetGalley, James Patterson, Brian Sitts and the publishers for this book。 。。。more

A unique and fun take of the traditional thriller novels。 I really enjoyed not only this story but it’s band of quirky detectives。 I couldn’t put it down!

Thank you to NetGalley, the authors and the publishers for an ARC of this novel。 This is the latest book from James Patterson and it's terrific。 Three people with the last names of Holmes, Marple and Poe have started an PI firm and they are solving crimes and generally showing up the police commissioner。 There is one officer, Helene Gray, who is interested in what they are doing and they work together somewhat。 She is suspicious of them though as there are no signs that they existed before this。 Thank you to NetGalley, the authors and the publishers for an ARC of this novel。 This is the latest book from James Patterson and it's terrific。 Three people with the last names of Holmes, Marple and Poe have started an PI firm and they are solving crimes and generally showing up the police commissioner。 There is one officer, Helene Gray, who is interested in what they are doing and they work together somewhat。 She is suspicious of them though as there are no signs that they existed before this。 Who were they before they went public with their PI firm?Like Helene Gray, there are a few secondary characters that are also interesting。 They have an assistant that is very efficient and likeable, a cat and by the end of the novel, a dog。 So it's also about the "family" they are creating and the community they are in。The cases that they work on are compelling, and the characters are multi-layered and all have their own demons to deal with。 I thought it was really solid work, well written, and I hope that we'll get more novels about the firm and their next cases。 。。。more

Holmes, Marple and Poe by James Patterson This has quickly become my favourite James Patterson novel to date。 I have been a fan of his work for many years, but this book really reminded me why I love this author! His writing style remains one of the best around and his books never fail to bring me enjoyment, mixed with all the nail-biting suspense you expect from a mystery thriller novel。 James Patterson novels usually follow one crime or one criminal, but this one was packed full of different storylines which meant that this book was fast paced and gripping right from the outset。 There were certain underlying plots, such as that of model Lucy, that make little sense when we first read of them, but the author very cleverly then interwines all of these storylines into one, all revolving around our trio of Investigators。 I found myself totally enthralled by the world of Holmes, Marple and Poe Investigations and got sucked into the drama right alongside our main characters。 The characters are interesting, hilarious and unique。 The trio of private investigators really made this book stand apart from the authors previous works。 They are normal people, albeit highly intelligent and resourceful, so we feel they are relatable and root for them at every turn。 The fact that each character had their own underlying plot line was also cleverly put together and kept the mystery/suspense alive throughout。 Holmes' and Poe's addictions were an interesting addition and highlighted that everyone has problems they may be hiding beneath the surface, even those who may appear respectable and well put together on the outside。 Marple was my absolute favourite character in this, and I loved the sense of humour between the three main characters。 The humour added a nice break from all the heavy content and made me giggle out loud at multiple points。 I would love a sequel to this book, as I would love to hear more about these three private investigators。 Believe me, if James Patterson writes it, I will definitely be reading it! I cannot recommend this book more。 Its reminiscent of The Thursday Murder Club, so fans of that series should definitely give this a go!Overall I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars。 Thank you to Netgalley and James Patterson for this ARC。 。。。more
